Where are my sleep
study test results?!

A letter to our patients from Dr. Vorse:
We sincerely hope you had a comfortable experience last night at our sleep lab. We collected information on your EKG, brain waves, eye movements, muscle tone, snoring, leg movements, breathing effort and blood oxygen levels. This was collected on a computer and represents over 700-1000 pages of raw data on you and your sleep! It will take our trained staff a few days to review your brain waves and muscle tone for each 30 seconds of sleep to determine which stage of sleep you are in. Our staff then reviews all 700 pages again to look for poor airflow, low blood oxygen levels, excessive leg movements and other abnormalities that could account for your poor sleep. All of this work generates a “scored” sleep study. Then I review the raw data, the scored study, and your medical information to diagnose your problem and make recommendations. This entire process usually takes up to one week. We understand that you are eager to find answers to your sleep problems and rest assured we are working hard to provide quality information to you and your doctor.
If you were referred by your doctor directly for the sleep study and did not have an appointment with me, your results will be faxed to your doctor. You should make an appointment with your doctor to review the sleep study results. If you were first evaluated by me, you will need to make an appointment to review your sleep study results with me.
Sincerely,

Dr. Vorse
